The New Audi Q8 Concept Is Simply Stunning
In January 2017, Audi will unveil a near-production Q8 concept. It comes from a study of the emotional styling of a coupe and the spaciousness of an SUV, with all its variability. This will unlock an entirely new segment for the full-size category, and Audi are set to be the first to put a product in it.
“With the Audi Q8 concept, we have created a new spearhead within our Q model line. Its design strongly evokes sportiness and prestige,” said Audi Head of Design marc Lichte. “What’s more, we believe an important aspect of this showcar is that it offers a spacious interior with four equally comfortable seats, even with the flat roof line.”
The front end of the concept car is pretty imposing, with the octagonal Singleframe notably wider than in the current Audi lineup. It’s positioned well forward, with three-dimensional sculpting. A lot of the car actually looks like the Ur-quattro of the 1980s. Things like the flat but wide C-post and the prominent, flared shoulders above the wheel give the car balanced proportions and equal emphasis to the front and rear wheels.
