This Years Mazda6 Hits Every Box – Comfort, Style, And Affordability

Following enhancements to the exterior in 2015 the new Mazda6 has received an upgrade in interior packaging and technology specification, resulting in a more sophisticated and refined mid-sized offering. An array of class leading technology and safety features have been added to the already superior Mazda6, refining the driving experience to match the striking KODO exterior. G-Vectoring Control (GVC), the first technology in the new SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS series, also makes it’s debut in the new car.

Andrew Clearwater, Managing Director of Mazda New Zealand says the vehicle has now become a more refined drive thanks to the latest in Mazda technology.

“There are times when you wonder if it’s possible to make the Mazda6 any better than it already is, but this update did exactly that. The team focused on technology that refines the pleasure of driving by enhancing smoothness, reducing noise and increasing safety which have all come together superbly,” he says.

“The Mazda6 has not only been leading the way of our next-generation line up since 2012 but winning the admiration of New Zealand motorists with its class leading luxury. This model has always held a top spot in its segment and is more deserving than ever of such kudos.”

G-Vectoring Control (GVC) delivers unified control over the steering and chassis system, by finely controlling engine torque based on the driver’s steering and acceleration inputs. The result is more natural and predictable vehicle behaviour and ultimately a more enjoyable, comfortable journey for everyone.

On top of this, the improved 2.2L diesel engine is quieter, smoother and more exhilarating. High-precision diesel boost technology has been introduced to sharpen the engine’s responsiveness and to reduce lag, even under light conditions. The control system realises optimal engine torque in real time and delivers smooth acceleration with minimal vibration.

The addition of two new features, Natural Sound Smoother and Natural Sound Frequency Control further suppresses noise and vibration usually associated with a diesel engine.

Road and wind noise reduction has been further honed in this upgrade with the objective of improving sound insulation and enhancing the clarity of conversations during driving.

This is achieved through the wider use of noise absorbing materials in the headliner combined with thicker glass in the front doors and better sealing performance of doors and trims.

But, naturally, the upgrades don’t stop there.

Enhancing the already plush interior is high quality leather and luxury textures, a choice of black or white contrasting colours throughout and skilled stitching. Warmer toned titanium with an intense metallic finish has been chosen for instrument panels and trim.

The Active Driver Display and meters have received a significant upgrade to improve the driving environment and enhance visibility. The multi-information display is now a full-colour LCD expressing information more smoothly and with increased functionality.

General, safety, and emergency warnings are now in corresponding (yellow, green and red) colours while the New Mazda6 Limited model now includes a memory function covering angle and brightness and animations for some functions.

The new generation steering wheel design has a sharper form for better grip and feel. The use of genuine leather, satin chrome plating and re-designed switches accentuate the stylish interior.

Every inch of the New Mazda6 cabin has been meticulously honed and considered. Even some of the most inconspicuous parts such as LED downlights for the overhead console and specially designed stitching on the steering wheel culminate into a luxury experience,” says Clearwater.

While outside the newly developed colour Machine Grey Metallic has been added to the lineup following the same TAKUMI-NURI painting technology created for Soul Red Metallic. The new colour achieves a striking balance of high contrast shadows and a high density finish.

Incredibly, despite significant gains in specification and design, pricing remains unchanged for the New Mazda6 against the outgoing model, starting from just $43,795 plus on road costs. For more information, please visit www.mazda.co.nz
