Football superstar Neymar, PSG agree to NZD $801m total transfer

Well there you have it. What began as speculation has now become a reality with Neymar and PSG reportedly agreeing to a colossal five year deal.

Sky Sports UK is reporting that Neymar and French football club PSG have agreed to a £450m (NZD $803m) monster deal over five years, including wages and transfer fees.

Neymar will earn a £515,000 (NZD$915,000) after tax. During his 4 year tenure with FC Barcelona, Neymar racked up an impressive resume – two La Liga titles (2014-15, 2015-16), three consecutive Copa del Rey titles (2014-2017) and a 2014-2015 UEFA Champions League trophy to boot. Neymar’s lethal footwork, eye for goal and vision on the field brought 105 goals and 59 assists to Barca.

Joining the likes of Angel di Maria and Edinson Cavani, Neymar will most likely form a new three-pronged attack at PSG – similar to the Messi/Suarez/Neymar three-headed beast that brought much success to Camp Nou.

To put the numbers into perspective, Neymar is essentially earning just under the average value of an Auckland house per week.

Oh, the joys of being a footballer.
