Inside M2 Magazine March 2015

With the fast increasing rate in tech complexity and prominent figures like Elon Musk warning of the perils of AI domination, perhaps it’s no surprise that Hollywood/Broadway all rounder Hugh Jackman is taking on a film about the clash between autonomous robots and those who believe that intelligent machines are too great a risk for humanity to tolerate. Jackman chats about what it was like to work with Neil Blomkamp (director of District 9 and Elysium), the pros and cons of stage vs film and how Blomkamp’s Chappie tackles some of the most pressing themes of our time.

Andre profileI have recently spent 10 days on a boat in Antarctica with over 100 entrepreneurs. As you do. We’ll explain more in the next issue but in summary it was a remarkable experience. Not only the surroundings of course which are just out of this world but also the electricity and magic that happens when you put a whole lot of extremely driven and talented people together – people from very different industries connecting their lessons and their experiences to provide new perspectives and opportunities. While we might not have 10,000-year old floating chunks of ice as a backdrop, M2 has given me a similar experience. It has been a privilege over the last 10 years to have interviewed and profiled some remarkable people within these pages; people from vastly different industries sharing their passion and drive. Their lessons, insights, passion and will to achieve have hopefully inspired you as they have me.
